About the Artist

Keri Lyn Flora

American Free-lance Artist

b. 1993; lives and works in Charleston, SC. Her favorite mediums include stoneware ceramics, oil, watercolor, and cross stitch .

Interested in art from a young age, Keri is a mostly self-taught ceramicist and artist. She completed general college courses at the Technical College of the Lowcountry, and two years in the Studio Art program at The University of South Carolina Beaufort.

Keri is a multimedia artist, working mostly in ceramics to explore themes of medieval and botanical whimsy, that often include imagery inspired by her cats Archer (Archie) and Nematode (Toadie).

When not working with stoneware, she enjoys mixed media arts, including watercolor and alkyd oil paint on engraved copper or glass, to explore the subject matter of female form and the organic aspects of nature. Her subject matter often depicts iconified realistic female forms with an air of fantasy and the surreal. Inspired by her surname, flora, coupled with the allure of female form; Keri has an illustrative, whimsically idyllic style of portraiture that transcends multiple mediums to convey the fragility and beauty of the human psyche.

“Everything I create feels like an extension of myself, be it in the physical reference photos or in my personal thoughts and ideas I’m longing to portray. Some are heavier thoughts than others, but each takes a piece of me with it as if I’m literally crafting my own legacy each time I move my hands.” - Keri Flora
