“This one is a personal piece. White chrysanthemums in Japanese culture have been associated with grief, death, and truth, often used at funerals.
For me, this painting is about harboring grief, the abiding internal effects, their inevitable bleed over into relationships with others, and the ensued growth- be it positive or negative-growth is fated by grief.”
